Workshops and Classes
Ready to learn fast from “square one,” or polish and expand your already-formidable abilities? I can show you techniques that deliver rapid, exciting progress at any stage of the game. Expect to laugh a lot – my musical improv classes are entertaining for all concerned.
Beginner
If you happen to be a stunning vocalist I won’t object, but it’s fine if your singing voice is perfectly average, or you’re not even sure you sing at all. You need only be willing to try anything I ask. It’s okay to be nervous, even terrified! It’s my responsibility to help you let go and have a good time. My success rate is about 100%.
It’s a plus if you have previous experience and training in comedy improv; however, many an absolute novice has accomplished fine work in my classes. Jump on in.
Intermediate to Pro
You can bring me in as a rehearsal accompanist for your group or even just yourself, one-on-one. In this event I’m happy to support and interact with you as an expert improv keyboard player.
I’m also available as a coach. On that basis, I can come and help you solve problems and reach goals. I bring to the table: Extensive experience working with the best in the business, years of teaching, and of course, thousands of rehearsals and shows.
Tutoring for Musical Directors of Improv and Sketch Comedy
I can give talented musicians the basic bag of tricks needed to be ready for almost anything, along with the tools to keep progressing on their own. I’ve done this with several keyboardists who are now in great demand to play shows, and am currently preparing a beginning musical director to set sail in Fall 2009 with a Second City show on Norweigan Cruise Lines.
Contact Me
Write to me via this website, tell me about yourself and describe what you have in mind. I’m based in Los Angeles and can travel anywhere.
Sometimes your best option is to enroll in a class that I’m teaching at The Second City Los Angeles Training Center (or I can refer you to another musical improv class there, with a great instructor). One way or another, I’d like to help you move forward in this art form.
